Students Love Their Stanley Cups

Walk into any classroom these days and you will see a Stanley Cup or two on the desks – not the famous hockey trophy but the trendy beverage holder.

This “ trendy” cup has gone viral on Tik Tok. It has a hashtag dedicated to Stanley with nearly 82 million views. The product is valued at $9 billion and was sold out within days. Why do people love the Stanley Cups so much?

Supposedly, the cup keeps a drink cold for up to 10 days. Research shows it takes approximately two days until the ice is melted.

“It’s like the ice stays there forever,” freshman Olivia Richardson said.

Places to buy Stanley include“Stanley Drinkware & Gear” website, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Amazon. The Cup normally retails for $50 for the 40-ounce, but Freshman Kerrigan Lewis Finkley bought one when her aunt sold her one at a discount.

“At the beginning of the school year, my aunt was selling Stanleys for $20 and it was a great deal,” she said. “I wanted to hop onto the trend.”

The Stanley Cups come in all different sizes.  Some people prefer to have the 20 oz rather than the 40 oz., because not only is it cheaper but it’s a lot less to carry around.

“I felt that the 40oz would be too heavy to carry around,” freshman Charlotte Argento said.

Some say the hype about Stanley Cups is overblown. Isabella Avery said she bought a “dupe” Stanley Cup from the brand Hydropeak for around $20.

Sophomore Bella Avery prefers a “dupe” quencher to the Stanley.

“For the way the water bottle is built and how good the quality is, paying $20-$30 is worth it,” she said. “Personally, having friends that own Stanley’s, they are cute but I feel that it’s better to  buy the dupe for half the price.”

Isabella says her Hydropeak cup stays cold just as long as a Stanley.

“When I take my water bottle to bed, I go to sleep and there is still ice in my cup and when I wake up there is ice in my cup, and it’s just a miracle!” she said. “My water always stays cold!”
