~Good morning, Socastee
~March 27 th is the Born Day of several extraordinary women: Mariah Carey = Grammy award Singer born on this day in 1970, Sarah Vaughan, jazz singer and pianist known as the “Divine One,” in 1924 And Julia Alvarez, a Dominican-American poet, novelist, and essayist, in 1950. Her first novel How the García Girls Lost Their Accents was highly acclaimed for its portrayal of the integration of Latina immigrants into the U.S. mainstream.

~Congratulations to the Academic Team for their fourth-place finish at Saturday’s tournament in Charleston. The Academic Braves continue their post-season play with an online tournament today after school. Good luck to our Braves.

~Last week the Socastee Concert and Symphonic Bands traveled to Loris for this year’s SC State Concert Band Festival and earned a rating of Excellent. Both bands made huge strides, with symphonic band being the first group in recorded school history to perform grade six literature on this stage. Congratulations to our members of the Braves band program.

~This past weekend our Socastee High Winterguard competed at the Atlantic Indoor Association Southern Championships against colorguards from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. They performed their hearts out and placed fifteenth in their class. Congratulations to our Winterguard for a great season back in the competitive
circuit after a four-year hiatus.

~The Socastee Band is having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on April 21st. Tickets are $10. Please see Mr. Jung in room 103 or a member of the band to purchase your ticket. All proceeds go towards the Braves Band program.

~Prom is this Friday. Any Junior or Senior that has not purchased their ticket may do so with Mrs. Tucci in the Main Office during 3 rd block/lunches. We are no longer accepting Guest Forms or Dismissal Forms. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Sauthoff in Room 332.

~Seniors who were unable pick up their graduation supplies last week, will be able to do so this Thursday, March 30th during 3 rd block/lunches in the Commons. If you have any outstanding fines or fees, they must be paid in full on mypaymentsplus or with Mrs. Tucci in the main office, to be able to pick up your Senior Supplies. All orders that were placed after January will be mailed directly to your house.

~Congratulations to Senior Midfielder Savannah Limehouse who scored her 100th career goal Saturday vs West Ashley.

~Women’s Varsity Lacrosse defeated West Ashley.

~Men’s Golf finished 7 th in the Aynor Invitational this past weekend that was shortened due to the weather.

~Our Track team had a great meet at the Coaches Classic down in Waccamaw.

~Men’s JV and Varsity Lacrosse both defeated South Brunswick.

~ Tonight’s Athletic Events Men’s Tennis will be hosting Green Sea-Floyds today at 5:30

~Women’s Lacrosse will be hosting Carolina Forest. JV takes the field at 6:00, with Varsity following at 7:15.

~Varsity Baseball and Softball will be hosting Sumter with both games starting at 6:30.

~Men’s Lacrosse will be traveling over to Carolina Forest. JV will begin at 6:00 followed by Varsity at 7:30.

~Women’s Soccer will be traveling to North Myrtle Beach. JV starts at 6:00 and Varsity starts at 7:30.

~ Our Goldmine game of the week will be our Thursday night Softball Game v/s the Sumter Gamecocks. So, we want you all to make plans to join us in cheering on our Lady Braves to a Win.

~Irish fact for today Did you know President Andrew Jackson parents were born in Ireland. They relocated to the United States in 1765, two years before his birth.
