JROTC was inspected for the first time in four years on Dec. 1 and performed excellent.
Inspections are supposed to happen every three years, but this was the first inspection since COVID. The overall rating was the highest possible, “Exceeds Standards”, said Lt. Colonel Juan Silva.
The inspection process includes a drill (marching) sequence.
“They looked flawless when they did it,” Lt. Colonel Silva said about the drill sequence.
The inspection also included a dress and room inspections and an oral mission brief, where cadets had to explain their job in JROTC.
“They did exceptionally well on that,” he said.
Sophomore cadet Ben Gildner was in charge of the drill sequence, in which every sophomore had to do a 30-step marching sequence.
“I performed the drill, and I had to identify a talking point in our presentation to the inspector,” he said.
In the future, inspections will take place every year rather than every three years, Lt. Colonel Silva said.
