Clouds Takes Viewers on an Emotional Roller Coaster

If you’re looking for a good tear jerker that will teach you to appreciate every moment, check out Clouds, which was released on Disney+ in October.

The movie is based on the true story of Zach Sobiech. He was a normal teenager until diagnosed with osteosarcoma bone cancer at 14. He went through 20 chemo treatments when by the age of 17, he found out it was terminal.

The movie captures that last part of his life, when he decides to stop chemotherapy so he can live as “normal” a life as he can his last few months. During this time, he dates and puts together a “promposal”, attends classes, drives and hangs out with his friends.

In one class, he advises his peers about what to write their college application essay on, quoting the poet Mary Oliver: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

Zach also does extraordinary things during his last few months, like writing the song “Clouds” with his best friend. The song is a goodbye letter to his friends and family.

He had started writing it on an airplane on the way back from Lourdes, France, where he had went hoping for a miracle.

It’s a heartbreaking song in which he sings about living life as fully as he can with his friends before he goes up to heaven. “We’ll go up, up, up but I’ll fly a little higher, go up in the clouds because the view’s a little nicer.”

Two days after his death the song climbed to No. 1 on iTunes.

Fin Argus, who plays Zach, is best known as an actor in Summer 03 and as a musician. Playing the role of Zach in the movie was definitely meant for him. Sabrina Carpenter acts as his best friend Sammy and is an actor from Girl Meets World, and also well-known as a singer.

This movie, along with his lyrics, teaches teens to appreciate life and not stress about it too much. He also wants them to not wait, and make a difference before it is too late.
